Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide, or GHRP-6 for short, is a growth factor peptide also referred to as a growth hormone-releasing hexapeptide or GH secretagogue.
It has many different benefits but the most advantageous to bodybuilding is stimulating the release of endogenous HGH (Human Growth Hormone).
See our post on Why Peptides are Beneficial to Bodybuilding.
The Benefits of Peptides
Peptides have many uses and benefits, especially when stacked with SARMs and prohormones. It's worth doing your research to see which peptides are most useful for your requirements. Learn more about the Benefits of Peptides on our blog.
Peptides can help you to:
- Build muscle mass
- Lose body fat
- Injury repair and prevention
- Reducing inflammation and pain relief
- Promote recovery
- Improve sleep quality
- Appetite suppression (for dieting)
- Boosting appetite (for bulking)
- Pre-Contest Tanning
History of GHRP-6
In the past GHRP-6 was administered to children with growth issues like Growth Hormone Deficiency. This was a relatively common practice and therefore we can assume as a drug the compound is safe and tested.
How GHRP-6 Works
GHRP-6 works by directing the pituitary gland to produce GH while at the same time it suppresses the opposing Somatostatin.
Clearly, boosted levels of GH are great for anyone looking to add muscle mass and shed body fat but it also has other benefits; it improves bone density, strengthens connective tissues and generally amps up the body's rejuvenation process.
GHRP-6 the Elixir of Life?
To make the most of GHRP-6 anti-ageing properties it's best taken at night. It is known to improve REM sleep and helps promote recovery, with the added bonus of vivid dreams.
GHRP-6 for Bodybuilding
If your intention is to increase muscle growth and reduce body fat then the best way to take GHRP-6 while on cycle, is throughout the course of the day. This practice mimics the body's natural slow release and will deliver the best results.
In terms of dosage, 100mcg is enough to create the desired effect although some hardcore users will use up to 5 times that amount.
Bear in mind that GHRP-6 is expensive and also that doubling the dose won't double the effect. Therefore, trial and error may be your best bet here.
How to take GHRP-6
GHRP-6 should be taken as a Sub-Q (subcutaneous injection). The solution should be prepared in advance (see our guide to find out How to Reconstitute Peptides).
The best place to inject is around some fatty tissue, the abdomen works well although avoid the navel region.
To prepare the injection, wash your hands before wiping with a sterile swab. Next, pinch the skin before administering the jab. Be careful to dispose of the needle responsibly in a sharps box. If your serious enough to use needles you should be serious enough to use sharps boxes.
GHRP-6 Side effects
GHRP-6 can cause side effects. These range in severity and rarity. You may experience some or none and to differing degrees but be prepared. Some users report:
- Pins and needles/loss of sensation in your limbs
- Water retention
- Increase in hunger
Hunger is the most likely side effect although this can be a blessing in disguise for some people. Clearly you don't need it when you're trying to diet, but conversely, if you do need to bulk up it can help you get through some heavy meals.
Taking GHRP-6 is a pretty simple procedure. Just be careful where you start dosage-wise and follow our simple guide to Reconstituting Peptides to ensure you get the best out of it.
